a good book, but very depressing

last night around 1:08 am, i finished this book. it was excellent. the author brilliantly weaves together the lives of people with vastly different backgrounds who come together and create an atmosphere of hope in an extremely chaotic period in the history of modern india. but it ends badly for all of them at the end. so if you're in the mood to read a thoughtful, well-crafted novel and want to feel introspective, i recommend it.
